Prediction on Cursed Child based on Rowling's tweet

Discussion/Theory

Recently, JKR tweeted that Cursed Child would make us cry. In the original series she frequently used character deaths to illicit this emotion from the reader. Additionally, death is a huge theme of the series.

Given these facts, it is likely that Rowling would use death to "make us cry" again, though certainly not a given.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Rowling has no intention of continuing Harry's story after the play, which means that she will likely want to finalize the story in some way during the play. Rowling used the epilogue to put the kibosh on any stories taking place in the immediate aftermath of the battle of Hogwarts. It would be unsurprising if she utilizes a similar method to cement the ending of Harry's story. Which brings me to my prediction:

Rowling will conclude the central story of Cursed Child and then flash forward to many years later, when Harry is very old. Ron and Hermione will have both already passed on. Harry will make the decision to die soon too. Perhaps Ginny has passed , as well. The story will end with Harry finally dying and going on to see everyone he has ever loved, including his parents, godfather, former teachers, best friends, and wife. Harry will greet death as an old friend.

This would be especially poetic since Harry had the chance at the battle to go on and be with those he lost, but stayed behind for those who still lived. Even though Harry lived a normal and happy life, he would always have that hole in his heart from those he loved and lost too soon. With his death, he will have finally achieved everything he always wanted.

I must say, while there is certainly some beauty in this and it would make everyone lose it, I really hope she doesn't do this. Not because it would close the door on any future stories, but as someone who grew up with these characters, I don't want to know the how and when they die. I know that these fictional characters will all die at some point in the universe, but so long as I live, I want to believe they do too.
