Can a car's antenna reception degrade over time?

One of our cars is 6 years old and lately the reception on the radio has been very bad with so much static. I'm in a major area so I don't think that it's a weak signal. Plus the other (newer) car is parked right next to it and gets perfect reception. Only one station comes in loud and clear and that's because it's pretty close to us. TIA
