[Questions] about my first & new automatic watch

Hi all!

I recently got a watch I've been eyeing for over a year and I absolutely love it. It's a Raymond Weil.

The watch had been working great, and I didn't use it at all yesterday, and when I went on to grab it this morning, I noticed it wasn't working. I immediately thought "battery" as that's what I had been used to with all my other watches.

But then, as soon as I put it on my wrist, it started working again.

So I then went on to fix the hour (it stopped at about 6:30 am this morning and I put it on at about 8:00) and it's been fine since. I looked in the owner's manual and there's very little information about the movement.

My questions now:

  • Does this watch essentially function with being worn on the wrist?
  • is it "bad" to let the watch stop working if it isn't used for a few days? According to the booklet, it has a power reserve of about 40 hours.
  • I've read online and in the booklet that you aren't to change the time between about 10pm and 2am, as the date mechanism engages between this time, so I just won't do that. But, when changing/adjusting the time, is it recommended to change it going clockwise or counterclockwise?
  • How are you to adjust the time to ensure the date doesn't change at 12pm?
  • Is it normal to hear the automatic movement with the seconds hand? Also, when I rotate the watch on my wrist, I hear an additional "thing" moving on the inside of the watch, which I'm assuming as of now is normal.

Apologies for asking such basic questions. It's my first automatic and it might require just a bit more in terms of attention than my other watches. I'm excited to have it nonetheless, and want to make sure I don't inadvertently damage something. Thanks!
