Question about becoming a 46er

I've looked into becoming a 46er, read the website, looked at the questionnaire... Is it really just an honor code system? I'm not looking to lie about it, but I started hiking the ADKs almost 20 years ago when I was a Boy Scout and younger, and didn't keep track of the dates that I hiked which peaks.

Do I need to provide proof that I climbed them or can I just go back and estimate what year/month I climbed Colden, Dix, etc? Not that I would need much of an excuse to go climb them again :)
