endlessly repeating error message in Word - any hope of saving my document?

Solved

I'm using Office 2015 on a Sager NP7338 laptop running Windows 10 Home. I tried posting some text into a comment, and Word apparently didn't like the way it was formatted, as I received the message "You cannot put drawing objects into a text box, callout, comment, footnote, or endnote." OK, fine. Except every time I hit 'OK,' the same message instantly pops up, again and again, endlessly. Closing the box using the top-right button results in the same thing. I can't edit the document or, more importantly, save it while the error box is there.

I haven't saved in quite a while (I know, I know). Any way I can terminate the endless error boxes, or save the document despite them? Or do I have to just kill the task and lose my work?

*edit: I know there will be an auto-recovered version, I'd just like to see if I can save work since the last auto-recovery save was made.

**edit 2: I managed to salvage it, using pretty much the dumbest idea I could think of -- rapidly hitting ctrl-s over and over while simultaneously clicking 'OK' on the error over and over, hoping to get Word to acknowledge and obey my ctrl-S in a little gap between the closing of one error message and the opening of the next. Much to my surprise, this actually worked!
