I "talk smack" way too much.

Often, when people are saying good things about a person whom I dislike, I explode into a bitter rant about that person which can go on until dawn if my friends don't tell me to stop it. Nobody wants to hear that negativity, and I try to live by the philosophy of, "if you can't say anything good, then don't say anything at all" but sometimes I can't hold my tongue. I often feel guilty afterwards, because I talk shit about people I even like sometimes, and the phrase, "what goes around comes around" applies to me, because I often don't remember the rants I have and don't know why people seem uncomfortable around me. Oh wait, it's because I talked shit about them the day before. I did this often when I was in my depression last year and alienated myself from a lot of people.
