So very anxious; not sure GAD and MDD are solely the cause... OCD?

Hello,

I have been worried lately that generalized anxiety disorder and major depressive disorder may not be the whole picture.

A little background on myself. I am a professional student in her mid 20s who has been suffering from GAD and MDD for years. I have been in therapy for both of those and been on many different medications as well.

I find myself worrying that there may be more to the story sometimes when my anxiety peaks. During the peaks of anxiety, I worry about really irrational things - I recognize these thoughts as being irrational, but they can plague my mind to the point were I feel controlled by the thoughts.

For example, I could be studying all day, and hear something on the news from a different state, and I could worry it was me. I know this is obviously irrational; my mind says: "But what if, OMG what if what if. That might have been you." An additional example could be: beeing worried I didnt do something even though I know I did it; like I have a memory of doing it, and know for a fact that I truly did do it, but cant get over the "what if you didnt do it" to the point where I need to check that I truly did do it. Some times I may check more than once. But it becomes rather distressing when I physically cant check, such as after I turn in an exam and worry I didnt put my name on it. It can result in my feeling sick.

Things have even evolved to the point where now I sometimes pee 3 to 4 times a night within a 10 minute period before bed so that I am sure I actually peed - so I dont wake up in the night. This is distressing because I KNOW i dont need to pee, but physically feel like I need to...

I have worked with my therapist mostly on my general anxiety and social anxiety and didnt really touch any of the above thoughts. I had told her sometimes I feel like its OCD but she just told me that many people develop obsessive traits in high paced and stressful programs.

I dont know what I'm looking for, but I felt like I needed to get that out. And I cant get it out with my therapist anymore because I am not seeing her anymore since I'm moving.

I dont know how to handle this and I feel like its getting worse.

Any thoughts or tips for managing this would be really nice...

Best, E.
