Players of CFB... I got some questions about summer/ combine camps/ exposure for H.S. player.

Discussion

Hey CFB, So my son (DL- 6' 1", 265) is going into his senior year in H.S. and has received a bunch of camp invites ranging from D-1 programs to NAIA programs and were trying to decide on which camps will be worth attending so he can get a shot at earning scholarship or even a preferred walk-on spot. He's filled out about 50 recruiting questioneers from March - May and got about 30 responses back.

The H.S. coach staff hasn't been very helpful in the recruiting process. Son is a late bloomer (last season he was 5' 10", 215, and unlike a few of his teammates doesn't hold multiple D-1 offers), I've resorted to turning to reddit for help.

The head coach told him bluntly "if coaches don't know who you are going into your senior season, forget about playing In college". My son has gotten very dicouraged at the precieved lack of help/ advice. He's even asked his coach which level he should be targeting and the coach told him he can't make an honest assessment on his abilities. The coach went to far as saying my job isn't to help you get a scholarship at the parent meeting last spring.

Sorry for venting, I'm just frustrated at the H.S. staffs lack of involvement. They love touting how one of their (transfer) player's has multiple offers on social media, but other parents in the program complain about they lack of help when it comes to recruiting. Meanwhile we have a school about 15 miles away with a lessor academic and athletic reputation that just placed 17 of 18 seniors on CFB scholarships.

So I guess my questions are which west coast/ southwest camps should he attend to maximize his exposure and once there what can he do to stand out with the staff.

I'm not willing to pay for one of those recruiting services to get his name out.

Thanks.
