Canadian CA looking to write the US CPA IQEX in Illinois

Hi all,

I'm a relatively new CPA,CA in Ontario Canada who is interested in obtaining a US CPA license. I heard the process is relatively simple if done through the state of Illinois and I am looking for more information about pursuing this.

My understanding is that Canadian CAs only have to write the IQEX exam, which is similar to the REG portion of the UFE and is 3 hours long.

The REG portion has a fairly large set of subject matter so my first question is how long should I expect to prepare for this section of the exam, having no such knowledge of regulations at the get-go and are there any highly recommended online courses that are comprehensive to what I need to know to pass REG.

My second question what is the experience requirement for Canadians through the IQEX process to get the CPA designation.

My final question is other than the REG exam and the experience requirement, what else is required to obtain the designation and are there any caveats if I do not actually live or work in Illinois or USA at the point of taking the exam?

Thanks for your help.
