Why is trash talking/promos such a lost art in the indies?

Why are more wrestlers in the indies focusing on their move set and not on their promo abilities?

I know athleticism and how much you kill yourself gets you over in the indie market, do you guys think someone in the indie scene can get over on their promo abilities alone?

I'm not buying that an indie fed won't let you cut a promo. I have worked production for some indie feds and if someone wants to talk, they won't hesistate to give them the mic.

Do you guys think wrestling has lost some of its audience because wrestlers today aren't able to tell a good story on the mic?
