Help with a tire problem, or suggestions.

I managed to get a good deal on Amazon for 4 new Cooper tires for my 2002 Mercury Cougar. I had also gotten suspension parts through Amazon and the situation was basically so far so good.

I had gotten all the parts after doing some cross checking and asking questions on this sub. Everything was great as I was using Amazon's feature of "This does/does not fit your vehicle", I used this feature on my tires as well. Without thinking about all the specifications I made the mistake of ordering 17 inch tires when I only have 16 inch rims. Here's where my problem lies, I've exhausted almost all my funds on the tires and parts and cost of upcoming labor.

I cannot find a way around spending 400$s on 17 inch rims, or paying a restocking fee of 100$s. I wanted to ask the people of this sub if I should try to sell the tires person to person as they are brand new and have never been used, or if maybe there is somewhere that buys new tires off of people or maybe I could get some used rims from a reliable site or source.

Basically in your opinion what should I do? I know little about cars and feel pretty lost with my back against the wall financially. I greatly appreciate any kind of information that anyone can give me.
