Where do I start? [25M]
The scenario: I'm a 25-year-old straight male who has never dated or done anything remotely romantic. I'm okay with that right now, but I fear that as time goes on it will become a void and it'll be more difficult to find someone when I'm older. I'm clueless of where to start.
The good/things I have going for me: I have plenty of friends, get along with almost anyone, have a career that I love where I make good money, own a home and a nicer newer vehicle, am very healthy/in good physical shape, and am probably at least average looking beyond that. I pride myself on being self-reliant and will almost always do work on my house or vehicle myself, so that consumes some of my time. Beyond that, I love outdoorsy things and it's how I stay in good shape.
The potentially negative/things I feel will work against me: I don't want kids, don't drink, and don't believe in physical intimacy outside of a long-term committed relationship.
I'm told I'm too picky, but I don't think I'm so bad. Personality means more to me than anything else, and historically I have never developed a significant interest in anyone before I had some conversations with them. Looks matter a little, but the only thing that would consistently be a deal breaker would be weight--I'm a small-framed person myself who is extremely active, so I don't feel that I'm being a hypocrite. Just because I don't drink doesn't mean I wouldn't date someone who does, either, but the kids thing isn't really something you can compromise on.
How do you start trying to find someone in your mid-20s? It's somewhat rural here, so that's a little bit of an obstacle. I looked online a few times and as soon as you weed out people who want kids it leaves almost nobody. In person, I tend to attract my opposites, as strange as that is. Any advice?
