CMV: Google and Wikipedia are secular, publicly minded companies and it is immoral for them to use "BC" and "AD" instead of BCE and CE for calendar dates

I noticed recently that both Google and Wikipedia, arguably two of the largest and most everpresent Internet websites, use the archaic religious terms "BC" and "AD" when referring to dates prior to 2,016 years ago.

Anyone with an education should realize that since at least the 1980s and especially into 2016, academia and anyone with forward thinking or secular mindedness has switched instead to "BCE" (Before Common Era) and "CE" (Common Era), respectively. For anyone ignorant of these terms, "BCE" would replace "BC" (i.e. 500 BCE) and "CE" would replace "AD" (i.e. 2016 CE). Read more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Era.

Only 33% of the world is Christian. Any time a student or curious individual googles a subject, say "Julius Caesar's date of birth", they are presented with the following unfortunate result.

Before Christ. Before Christ, everywhere.

Not only is it used in the Official Google "Knowledge" sidebar, but in the Wikipedia article for Julius Caesar that is listed among the top results. Many secondary sites do use BCE, but none are as prominent as Wikipedia or Google itself, and none bear as much of the responsibility to do so as Google/Wikipedia IMO. Julius Caesar is just an example—"BC" and "AD" are presented for any event or person dated prior to c. 1000 CE.

The result from Google and Wikipedia promoting "BC" is to make non-Christians feel "othered" when googling for things that have nothing to do with Jesus Christ or Christianity. As a Jewish person myself, I found it quite shocking that such universalized multinational corporations restricted themselves to such antiquated, offensive, outdated language.

Obviously the First Amendment can't and shouldn't apply to these private companies, but I at least think the argument can be made that it is immoral for them to promote this dating system. It may seem like a minor infraction, but ultimately it reinforces Christian hegemony in the Western world, America, and anywhere else. Our society decided the year 2016 was too entrenched to change, so as a compromise we stripped it of its religious associations and changed AD to CE. Google and Wikipedia need to follow accordingly.

CMV—I'm curious to see if the predominantly secular Reddit has any objections to my view here. If not, play Devil's advocate at least. :)
