Question about oil

I have a 2012 a4 and the oil is pretty low right now. The oil change date says about 109 days before the next change. I was thinking about adding more oil then changing it before the timer is up. I was looking for recommendations on the oil and if I should just add oil or do a complete oil change. Is it normal to add oil before an oil change. My last car was a 1990 Honda Accord and that thing never died so I don't know much. Thanks
