How easy is it for nurses to expatriate to other countries for work

Hello, I'm 22f US (no other citizenship) college student receiving my BA in Anthropology, but will be spending the next school year taking nursing prerequisites. After that I plan on taking a year off (by then my degree will be complete) and then will hopefully attend an advanced BSN program (1 full year to completion).

My question is, how easy is it for U.S. licensed nurses to expatriate into another foreign country to work as nurses.

I am aware that it will of course largely depend on some obvious factors....

  1. Language fluency
  2. What TYPE of nurse (more clinical vs administrative)
  3. Which country (I'm a little open with this bc this is more out of curiosity for now, but I'm open to the EU, English speaking countries and other U.S. expat friendly locations)

And also I'm aware of nursing programs like nurses without borders, but I'm not really talking about those types of relief programs for this inquiry.

Does anyone have any insight on this or someone with actual experience of being a U.S. expat nurse? What is the general process, what are the hurdles and how has your transition been/what is your life like as a nurse outside the U.S.?

ALSO, if you have your nursing certification elsewhere outside the U.S. but have expatriated to the U.S. to work, please feel free to comment.

Thank you in advance. I'm someone who would like to continue traveling in my career.
