[5e] The Ranger in my party would like to create armour for her wolf companion, thoughts?

I'm DMing for a group and during our last session the ranger in the group asked the local smithy to forge something for her wolf for added protection.

Any thoughts on what I can do for this mechanically? Would it at AC? Maybe resistance to slashing and bludgeoning? Any opinions would be appreciated.
