Messages to other users don't get sent after the first initial message

I tested this with a friend. If I send a message on mobile, it sends the initial first message, but anything after that never sends even though it says it is sent on my end. Is anyone else experiencing this? I've tried closing and reopening, deleting and redownloading, and my messages still aren't going through.
