Islam and Tolerance for other religions

Question / Help

The book "Nathan the Wise" discusses the topic of religious tolerance and it does that through the so called Ring Parable. You can read more about it with a little google search.

My question now is, how does Islam view religious tolerance. Does Islam view itself as the only one true religion and, if yes, how can one explain that to non-muslims?
