How long did it take for your budgie and you to bond?

I met a lovebird in a store and we bonded the second I handled her. She was so friendly and tame and our bond was formed since that day until years later when she died.

Now I have a budgie who was handfed and tamed at the breeders but he is NOT bonded to me at all. Since day one he was/is very tame and will sit on my finger and not budge at all but there is no connection yet. I only had him for almost 2 months however.

Maybe budgies are more shy to open up than lovebirds are? Or was it just that lovebird's personality and a budgie with her personality would have acted like that too? What's your experience with bonding to your bird?
