Why are Franklin & Marshall shirts popular in Greece?

I just got back from Greece and saw many people wearing Franklin & Marshall (an American school) t shirts everywhere.

When and why did these shirts become popular in Greece? It's a very small school that's not really famous in the US, so I am wondering how it became a fashion statement in Greece.
