Transitioning in secret?

Hey all. I finally have some good news. The tutor coordinator at my school managed to hook me up with a job. I'm going to start working next semester and as a result I can afford hormones, though I won't be able to visibly transition (like wearing clothes, wearing make up, hair removal, etc...). I want some help with this though:

1. how often will I have to see a therapist? How much is the cost? Do I have to get blood work done every month or something like that?

2. are hormones expensive?

Edit: I live in San jose. Also does anyone know any therapist in this city that can get me on hormones quickly?
