More C2C help (if you don't mind)

So, I've decided what C2C projects I'm going to work on:

1. A Jigglypuff cushion for my sister's birthday present
2. The Little Mermaid for said sister's above Christmas present
3. A whole collection of Pokemon cross stitch patterns for my youngest brother's christmas present

So my question is this; for the second link how would I turn it into a C2C pattern? Do I turn it into a cross stitch pattern? Do I need to get special crochet/knitting paper and work it out from there?

EDIT: Thanks to another Hooker's post, I've used Stitch Fiddle to make The Little Mermaid a cross stitch pattern, however without uploading it to facebook and spoiling the surprise for my sister there's no way of showing you here what the pattern looks like, right now.
