[USA] Grad Student with a 800-1000 dollar budget

I just finished grad program and I am about to start a Doctoral program. I mainly use a laptop for statistical programs (SPSS, R, and some basic data coding), surfing reddit, and playing games on steam (no games that have major hardware requirements). I have only used windows operating systems and would prefer to stick windows. I am really hard on laptops (I drop them a lot) so I would prefer to have something not made of plastic. I was considering an ASUS Zenbook, any recommendations?
