UK Home DVD Releases Post-Season 5

So it looks like after Season 5 the season box sets were no longer being released by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, but instead outsourced to another company called "Medium Rare".

I recently purchased one of their releases (Season 6). At first I was surprised to see all the content was on just 3 double-sided DVD's (a format that isn't overly common these days). The back of the case said that it was Region 2 and I purchased it from a UK re-seller (CeX).

However it will not play in any of my DVD/Blu-Ray players. Even the one Philips which is meant to be Region Free it still comes up with a region error. Using MediaPlayerClassic the DVD still refuses to play, however VLC does manage to provide playback.

Has anyone else here got a copy of Season 6 from a UK seller? Does it work in your DVD/Blu Ray players?
