So have any of you made your own bitters?

Care to share your recipes or experiences? A friend texted me a pic of a habanero whiskey sour that sounded amazing. It was made with Bitterman's Habanero bitters but at $23 for 4 oz., not the most economical. Was wondering if any brothers/sisters of the flame have dabbled? Thanks in advance!
