Thinking of grinding my own beans

I've been thinking about getting a Hario mini burr grinder and grinding my own beans. I have a Keurig and use a Solofill basket that holds the coffee grounds but I'm not sure whether or not there's a benefit to using fresh ground beans as opposed to the pre-ground coffee I usually get.
