Anyone with a T460S or X1 Carbon (latest) with the 1920x1080 non-touch able to do a easy PWM test for me?
Hey everyone! I have a T450S right now and love it. I get migraines like crazy and can't own machines with PWM. Literally returned 8 computers before getting the T450S which doesn't have it. Looking to upgrade but hoping someone can do a quick easy test for me. Needs to be either the T460S or latest X1 Carbon with the non-touch display and the 1080p panel.
All you need to do is use a site with a white background like this one, and turn your smart phone camera on and hold it a few inches from the screen so that the text is focused while at 100% brightness, then lower it slowly down to the lowest. The link here shows what it SHOULDN'T do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXFw_QremsY
Basically at 100% brightness usually it will be fine, but as you get under 50% if there's PWM in use the display starts to do bars or lines on your phone camera. If there's no PWM it will look normal all the way to 10-20% brightness. Like in the video they compare the 2 machines. I'd really appreciate it if anyone is able to help before I order it and possibly get faced with a restocking fee as I've heard both of these do use PWM and that it might be worse than the T450S. Also just to clarify I don't need you to record it, just let me know the results. Thanks so much!
