T420 or T460 for School?

Would you recommend buying a t420 or new t460 for school? Going to school online and for a degree in Information Technology with Securtiy Focus. Will also be doing a good bit of work in linux as a prep for my linux+ cert. Also considering x220 or x260 for the battery life as I would like to take my thinkpad to a cafe or something while I work on school. All suggestions and comments would be very helpful thanks!
