What counts as physical damage?

I'm planning on getting my 1st gen watch repaired or replaced because I believe the battery may have died (it doesn't turn on anymore no matter what i do). I have a scratched screen and a slightly scuffed side, but not cracked. Would Motorola count this as physical damage and charge me for it or refuse replacement? I can take pictures of it in a bit.
