Daily HVTs aren't resetting if I don't log in the following day

So me and my friend have been testing this, mainly because of his work schedule. We did day 1's daily HVT of Cinderella, then 2 days later it was repeated and I was able to select it to do again but on his character it showed up as already completed. So over the past 2 days I tested this again. We did all the HVT dailies on Friday, I didn't log in yesterday, and today two of them repeated and sure enough both of those are already completed on my character.

Is this a bug or "planned" to make people need to log in daily to get the local side of things to actually reset them?
