The Judge

Level ? 'Revolver'

This weapon uses high-explosive rounds with high knockback, fast projectile speed, and no damage falloff

-83% clip size

-100% holster speed penalty

(Hidden -) This weapon is classed as firing projectiles (with the same speed as the Manmelter), meaning it can be airblasted / destroyed with the Short Circuit. It can also be used to blast-jump, with a similar push-force to the Detonator and Scorch Shot

  • So it turns out that giving the Spy a shotgun makes him easy to play, and it's not particularly skilful to walk up to enemies with a disguise and blast them into next week with a face full of lead. So, in this little rework of that idea, I used the concept of the Judge's HE rounds in its game of origin and essentially made it the Scorch Shot for Spy.

  • On the main point; you fire fast-moving bullet projectiles that explode on impact with a surface or an enemy, with a blast radius similar to a pill, and deliver powerful knockback. This can be used against pursuing enemies by pushing them back and away from you, to deal damage to a close-knit group of enemies / buildings, or to blast-jump into places where you previously couldn't access. It provides you with a decent combination of combat effectiveness and mobility to use at your pleasure. This all doesn't come without its drawbacks though - because it's a projectile, Pyros can and probably will airblast it back at you if they're good enough, Engineers can and probably will short circuit it if they're good enough, and it takes time to reach its target, so a direct hit might not always be possible.

  • On the downside; you've only got one shot before you need to reload, so you need to balance out your uses for it as a combative or mobile weapon, and you can't spam it to deal large amounts of damage to enemies at any range. Conserve and consider, or you might just find yourself reloading when looking down a rocket launcher's barrel.

  • Alternative versions include; a larger clip size (a maximum of 3, minimum of 1).

  • Overall, it's an exploration of what could and couldn't work for the Spy; could he use more mobility, and if yes, how much? How does it compare to the Detonator and Scorch Shot in terms of damage output and mobility? Is a more unique revolver that doesn't follow the existing one's formula all that possible?
