My bed broke soon after I moved in. Landlady thinks I should pay for a new one.
So I moved into my house in January and after like two days of living there the side of my bed fell down when I was lying on my bed.
My landlady got her husband to put some screws in to fix the bed. It worked fine for a week or so, but eventually it broke beyond repair.
Since then I've been using a useable but but crap spare bed. And she wants me to purchase a new new one.
When I told her I don't think I should pay for a new one she said:
"The Bed was as new and not broken when you moved in.. And second time it was beyond repair!'
And then she said:
"The inventory you signed says the bed was in very good condition on 6th Jan and if it was in anyway defective it would have broken on day one. All the furniture was checked when [Guy who had the room before me] moved in as well as out. The second time it broke was in a different area not the repaired part."
I think even though the inventory said it was in good condition I shouldn't have to pay for the bed. I am not a carpenter nor do I know anything about beds.
Any advice?
