OneNote 2016 (Desktop) Quirks

I've started using a Surface Pro 4 with OneNote as a (paper) notebook replacement.

So far so good, but I have some quirks with OneNote that I'm hoping someone has a resolution or a work-around for.

  • Converting handwriting to text isn't that accurate, and the text is always much smaller than the handwriting it comes from. It almost seems to me if you take a note by handwriting it, leave it that way. If any of you use handwriting extensively in OneNote, I'd love to hear your input on this.
  • If you highlight something (especially a picture or a screen shot) then add text above it, the highlighting gets moved. Would be nice to be able to anchor highlighting to what is highlighted. I do know that you can use "Insert Space" to work around this, but that isn't the most intuitive when you aren't sure how much space your text will take up.
  • It seems like mixing handwriting / typed text / highlighting / pictures in the same note is a recipe for disaster. Mostly due to the above item.
  • If you have highlighting anywhere in your note and you export it to a Word document, you can be guaranteed it won't be in the correct spot in the Word document (it is usually appended at the bottom underneath all of the rest of the content).
  • If you send a note with mixed content (pictures / text) to Outlook, it seems to render some of the text as a picture, and some of the text as text. This is really annoying...
