My hamster keeps licking things!?

Frodo is a 3 month old Syrian and when we get him out to roam about the sofa, he feels the need to lick it! He also enjoys licking computer keyboard keys, my jumper at the elbow and the metal fruit bowl.

I don't think this is a bad thing but I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this with their ham?
