FS Wedding Stories: Who entered the FS single and is now married?

Someone made a post about lifestyle, and somewhere in the story of the replies a good point was brought up. Who here entered the FS single/unwed/maidenhead/foreveralone, and how did the lifestyle affect your story of finding a spouse? I feel like the certainty of moving to another part of the world every 1-3 years is a major wrench in any long term relationship, or the prospect of getting into one, and I would love to hear your stories. The average age of new hires is right at that age where a lot of people have spouses on lock before they leave, but not everyone.

The main details I would ask to include in your story are:

  1. Did you marry another DOS employee, another expat, or a local?
  2. How did you meet this person?
  3. If you're both FSOs, how did/does being married affect the bidding process, since you obviously would want to be in the same post? What types of things do you sacrifice in order to match up geographically?
  4. How does having a family of 1 person contrast with having a family of 2+ affect your relationship with the lifestyle and the FS, socially, financially, etc, especially if you have a trailing spouse that isn't able to work in your post country?

I'm a forever alone so I always just assumed I was signing up to be the Cool Aunt who Travels Around The World and Has A Lot of Money and Buys Really Cool Gifts But Has No Husband haha.
