When I have a project in mind, I love programming. When I don't, I'm bored to tears. Halp ?
Hey guys! I'm genuinely sorry for the crying-type of post. I have read the FAQ on the motivation part and the project list. I am having problems motivating my self to learn programming. When I am assigned a project from a friend or when I consult a project list, I feel like I'm not interested in making the "next reddit clone" since there's no practical use for it. I like creating things that help me, and when I do have a problem and end up coding the solution, I fall in love with programming. For example, I want to build a portofolio. I read books about HTML/CSS/JS etc and finally build that portfolio. When I don't know what to do and I'm told to build something like a "Twitter clone", I get bored the second I start the project, simply because I don't 'feel' it. What could I do? I want to study CompSci and I wish I can find a way to provide my self with fun projects that I want to make. I've had people help me out on my personal interests aside from computers but I can't really think of anything. How do you stay motivated and how do you find fun projects that might help you?
