Neutral Facial Expressions
How do some of you deal with facial expressiveness? Many times people have told me that I can act very angry or sassy, which is very confusing; as I generally focus on the acuity of my diction with no attempt to impart any meaning facially. For context here is a selfie with no attempt to emote or impart facial expression http://imgur.com/w6ik9kD
I find this much less of a problem in social discourse where I am able to assume a more warm expression; http://imgur.com/B65US5v. This is mostly an issue when I am working. I am a member of the film industry in vancouver, and as an aspiring cinematographer (cameras, art, and movies are my particular obsessions) I have had the pleasure of shooting a few short films; which thusly puts me in a leadership position.
In this scenario I find myself unable to put on my social "mask" due to the focus my art requires. The greatest challenge I find is that when I am delegating, clarifying, and giving feedback to the director or crew they will often times ask me to "calm down" or other to "let it go".
Do any of you have any advice on how to make this much less of an issue? It's very destructive to my artistic ability to walk this confusing line. I've tried explaining my particular diagnosis and the fact that I am not very in tune with modes of communication other than vocabulary, but the issue seems to persist. If any of you have any ideas please chime in. Thank you guys very much.
