BCS Major first year: bird courses or courses I might like?

Title pretty much, should I be taking bird courses for my electives or courses I'd be generally interested in? So far for the September to December 2016 term I have Comp 1405 and Math 1007. but apparently I should be taking 3 electives as well according to the Carleton site. If I should take bird courses, which ones should I take?
