My AMD cpu is stuck to the AMD stock-heatsink
The cpu is an 8320 (socket: AM3+) and I'm using the stock heatsink that came with it. The problem is, is that 3 years ago, I must've done a mighty fine job attaching the thermal paste to the cpu because now I can't get it off of the heatsink!
What happened was the temps were getting really high even after turning it on after a sweet night of rest, so I deduced that the thermal paste must be getting old. So, after a huge struggle with removing the heatsink, it finally came off of the mobo... with the cpu still attached. 4 pins were bent, I unbent them with a safety pin and made them come up at an ~87 degree angle. However, that's not the problem.
The problem is, is that the cpu won't get off. I've tried heating the thing with a hairdryer and wiggling, didn't budge. Heated it, then TRIED to stick a box-cutter under, no room for the box-cutter to slide in. I tried cleaning the edges with isopropanol and q-tips, cleaned it properly, still won't wiggle. Right now, I've flipped it so that the heatsink is on top, carefully lowered the overall thing into a bowl, and filled the bowl with isopropanol up to the connection between the cpu and the heatsink. I'll post the results of this.
Is there any other ways to remove the cpu? I'm losing my mind, and nothing is seemingly working. I can't even put the cpu back into the slot (I mean, I can, but the mobo won't POST, and there's no diagnostic lights on the 970A-G43 board.
EDIT: FIXED
