laptops SSHD Spinning up and down irregularly

I have a Samsung laptop that i swapped the regular hard drive to a sshd 2 years ago. Model is a np700z5c-s02ub. About 2 weeks ago it started spinning up the hard drive irregularly, now its spinning an stopping every second. It acts up even the the pc is idle and i have no idea what causing it. Is my hard drive failing/on its last leg? Anyone have a clue or hint to fix it? I haven't installed any new programs for 2 months and i'm down to my last options. I'm probably going to buy a SSD to replace it if this keeps up.
