48 hours. The first 24 was a nightmare
Using a throwaway, my family reads this sub.
I've lurked here for awhile reading everyone's srory, trying to gather the strength to quit only to be back to my girlfriend (we'll call her Vodka) the next day. I think my biggest fear isn't the physical effects (thank god I'm past it now) but the psychological break up with the girl that made me feel good (for the time being).
My friends and family don't understand how hard quiting really is. I don't know how many times I heard "why do you love drinking more than us" or "all you have to do is just stop for God's sakes, what's wrong with you"?
Which just makes me feel worse and I hit the bottle again. It's a vicious cycle that I know is killing me.
But as of today I have 48 hours and I have you guys here. One day at a time. Today I won't drink. I can't. It will cause me to lose my kids and if that happens I don't know what I would do.
So not today.
