Prices on older graphics cards dropping?

I'm a little new to the PC building world and I was just curious before I spend any money, with the new GTX 1080 coming out when would something like a 970 drop in price (or if they even do or not). I'm not going to play games that really need a 1080 so I might as well save my money.
