Canada - ~5", Developer support, microSD card

I recently busted my screen, and the replacement screen I ordered a few months back never arrived so I'm looking at just buying a "new" phone.

Price - Looking to spend around $300 CAD, used is completely fine with me. Will be off contract.
Carrier - Wind Mobile
Country - Canada
Size - No larger than 5" screen
Use - Moderate use. Just to keep in contact with people and browse Reddit from bed. Lots of music, streaming is not an option as I sometimes work in remote locations
Preferred Brands - Don't prefer one over another, but I do want developer support as I find OEM configurations of Android to be less than consistent.
Other - Storage isn't an issue as long as there is a microSD card slot.

For a bit of history, I've owned a Samsung S2 Skyrocket, and my current phone is a 1st gen Moto G. I have really enjoyed both devices as they were the perfect size, and community ROM support was amazing. I would really like to get a phone that feels the same, no larger than 5" screen and developer support. These new flagship devices offer more than I need, at a price higher than I'm willing to pay. I have noticed that my Moto G has slowed down a bit but that's the least of my concerns with it since the glass is absolutely shattered, I'm surprised it still works.
