how much does lvling past 120 help

hello so I was just wondering does putting points into stats past the softcap help that much? Or just a small amount? For example I know that 120 it's the sweet spot to hit but I was talking to a guy that is soul lvl 320 he has so many points everywhere he is way past the caps on things and can make any build he wants without having to respec because he has so many points to spend is it worth getting that that lvl?
