Does it make any sense to encrypt whole system instead of just /home?

I've been running encrypted systems for a while, with no real reason, just because I can, but with my laptop I have a bit different approach: I would not want anyone to access my personal files (photos, documents, ssh keys). So does encrypting all the system matters?
