Any corners I can cut? (1st build)

Build Ready

###Build Help/Ready:

What is your intended use for this build?

Mainly gaming. Some processor-intensive simulations and stuff stuff from time to time (I'm a programmer).

If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for?

I 'd like to be able to play modern AAA titles like Just Cause 3 and MGS5 at high-ish settings at 1080p. In a year or two, I may upgrade to a 1440p or 1800p (but probably not 4k) monitor and would like most of the components to be able to handle that, possibly with lower settings.

What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?

My current build is around $1100. I can live with this, but was hoping for a build a bit closer to $900. Are there any corners I should cut? A different graphics card, or a different edition of the same card, perhaps?

In what country are you purchasing your parts?

USA

I'm a first-time pc builder, so I'd appreciate any advice you have. Are there any obvious bottlenecks in this system? Any components that are much better than they need to be relative to the rest of the system? Any compatibility problems?

Also, I left out a cheap external CD/DVD drive I'll use to install Windows 10, plus the mouse I already own. Is there anything else (cables, etc.) I need to buy? Thanks.
