Any idea why SOME false lashes irritate my eyes only while wearing contact lenses?

Ardell brand lashes seem to be fine but I've recently tried a few kinds of sopposedly human hair lashes and they make my contacts sting to no end!! And only until I take my contacts out. They don't hurt my eyes when I'm just wearing glasses. Does this happen to anyone else?? Is there another way besides trial and error to make sure I don't get ones that do this?
