Is it's possible to play a possession game ?

Hey !

My players almost never give me a good option to make a pass and when i try to protect the ball by turning my back to my opponent, he just run through me and take the ball easily.

If someone can tell me how often and when he use the L2 button to protect the ball, it would help me alot.
