Question on workers

Hi i recently started playing and finally brought my first cheap worker (was about 11k from worker guy in velia) i set him to farm potatoes on the farm just north east of the town as that was the one i had open at the time and set him to automate but everytime he collected it wasnt showing in velias storage when i finally got to heidel it had about 100 potatoes in it so it seems like the worker was depositing them there instead is this a bug or is it just this worker.
