Water Questions

Hey all, long time lurker here, I’m about to embark on my first trip to Thailand and the wife was wondering “how cautious do we actually need to be about the water?” Are we fine to eat fruit that may have been washed? Can we have boiled water for tea? Is it safe for me to wash my hands to put in contacts? I’m sorry to say I haven’t been in a situation like this before so I’m completely in the dark We’re Americans initially if it helps and we’ll probably be in South East Asia for a few months, Thanks for the help!
